First I would like to say that each case may be different. The most common cause is firewall or permissions.

For firewall issues there is a guide that you can follow:
"Firewall Configuration for League of Legends" (https://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/22114820?locale=1)

Now if it has to do with your system permissions, your game will require administrative privileges to install and run correctly. There are several fixes for this problem that you can try.

1) Make sure you have all available windows updates installed from this website:

2) Make sure you are an administrator:

3) Disable UAC(Windows Vista or Windows 7)
- Be sure to use the "Never notify me when:" setting

4) Run the game as an administrator:
- Right-Click on the short-cut
- Select the properties tab
- Check the box labeled "Run as administrator"

5) Occasionally, these problems can be caused by a corrupt disk fragment. You can run a scandisk on the drive:

6) If all else fails you may need to re-install the game with administrative rights using this guide:

Greetings.

Could you attempt the following solution:

Change your DNS to Google's public DNS.
-Open your "Network and Sharing Center"
-Select "Change adapter settings"
-Right click your adapter, and select "Properties"
-Locate the field for "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", and double-click it.
-On the bottom, select "Use the following DNS server addresses, and input the following:
Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4
-Click OK twice, and retry the game.

Please provide me with feedback if this works or not.

--Should you actually lose your network connection when attempting this, just change the DNS setting back to "Obtain DNS server address automatically".

Thanks, it worked for me with solution nr. 3. But, why is this error appearing?

Greetings Summoner,

Some solutions you can try:

1. Go to your Riot Games/RADS/System folder under your default install path, right click and run the rads_user_kernel.exe file as an admin, then try starting your patcher.
2. Try deleting your LoL_Air_Client folder (the default install path for this folder is c:\Riot Games\RADS\Projects) and then repatching.
3. Replace <install directory>/RADS/system/rads_user_kernel.exe, with this file (http://l3cdn.riotgames.com/releases/live/system/rads_user_kernel.exe)
6. Try running through the RADS solution in this Video (http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/redirect.php?do=verify&redirect_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D__DSdqE-Hao)
