What happens now?

I will personally be staying on in Athens along with Panic and Ravenworld. Tomorrow (Monday - 16/07/2012) we will be working with our ESL partners and with Cowboytv.gr to run some online games and give away some prizes. Tune in to cowboytv.gr at 6pm Greek time. We will also be heading into the city to visit several Internet cafes to play some League of Legends around Athens.

Those players who I identify as having attended the event and been unable to get inside I will also be working to contact and offer a personal apology. If you attended the venue, but did not get inside, please make clear in this thread.

I will be talking a bit more about this event on Monday at cowboytv.gr so tune in to discuss and share your thoughts from 6pm onwards. I will also be answering questions from the forums.

Once again, I apologies that this event was a huge disappointment for those who did not get inside. We came to Greece to do something special for our players. Being unable to make this something great for all who turned up is something I will be working hard to resolve.

This was a very good reply and nicely timed (I am not being ironic) and I think that many people that went though all that trouble at Saturday will be satisfied for having been given a non-standard apology, but an apology doesn't really fix things ... what I quoted does though.

What needs to be re-established is the trust between the company and the community and this can be achieved through continuous efforts to show people that you care and that you are next to them as a community and that you respect them as clients and in that regard I believe that I am correct in saying that as a community people would NOT like to see free RP or some gift as "compensation" , but would like to see more of YOU people interacting with them and treating them with the respect they deserve, something that didn't happen in Saturday (you do realize that even our fricking army does NOT leave you on guard duty for so many hours under the sun ).

You will find that, if treated well, Greek people have a very forgiving nature and are blessed with short memories and quick smiles ... so, the event was a failure for many people but the damage is not irreparable at all ... you will just have to give a lot of extra effort to "win" our respect back.

Have a nice day and enjoy your stay in our country. ... and do not stay too much under the sun ... ( sorry, couldn't resist )

P.S.

The Greek stream was AWFUL !! I mean watching the games from a camera pointing at the video wall ? I do not care about video quality, but only 70% of the game screen was showing at best ! Thank God for Phreak's stream ... oh and in your next events anywhere, take more videos along with you, for God's sake ... LoL has so many interesting things to see and advertise than a couple of trailers on infinite loop. :/

P.S. 2

Oh, and I forgot ... NEVER call the police on your clients ... with the tempers outside as it where the insult would have been really grave and people might get out of hand ... and you would agree that having the SWAT beating the h*ck out of the people you invited is not a very good marketing idea.

Summoners,

I'm writing to you from Athens, following on from our Greek launch event on Saturday. Sorry for my lack of Greek, I will have this message translated tomorrow.

The final between inSpot Gaming and Test Your Limits was won in 2 games by Test Your Limits who raised the trophy and took away the winners cheque and championship title. Huge congratulations on their victory, and to both teams on their performance.

The event took place at the Gkazi Music Hall in the centre of Athens. This was the largest venue we could find unless moving up to a full stadium or sports venue. The capacity of the venue is 3,500 people.

I want to give you a bit of insight into the day.

People began arriving before 11am on the morning of the event, 4 hours before the start time. Before the doors were due to open, several thousand were waiting outside in the blazing 42 degree heat.

We filled the venue with over 3,500 attendants, and were then forced to close the doors. This was the absolute maximum number we were legally allowed to enter the venue. This left over 1,500 people outside of the event, still waiting to get in.

Firstly I want to give my deepest apologies to those who were left outside waiting. The temperature was incredibly high and the conditions were very difficult. For those of you that travelled from near and from far, who did not get into the venue I offer my personal apology and I am highly disappointed that we let you down on this day.

We wanted as many of you as possible to share in this event, but we did not expect such a huge response.

So what happened?

The response that we saw for this event was like nothing seen in Greece or even Europe before. After considering previous events, plus numbers of teams that signed up for the online tournament and the amount of response we received to our forum announcements, we were expecting around 1,000 - 2,000 attendees. The actual number was over 5,000.

By the time Riot team managed to fully announce that the venue was completely full, many of you had been waiting for some time. Again I apologise that this was not done more quickly.

The largest similar gaming event to take place in Greece had 500 people attending. We made number estimates based on several factors, but these turned out to be too low.

I have read all of the posts here and spoken to a lot of people who joined us on Saturday. This event, for those who did not get inside was a huge disappointment. For the Riot team the success of the event was also mixed with disappointment, we wanted this to be a great day for all of you, and to share this with as many of you as possible. Because the response was so huge, we let many of you down.

What happens now?

All players who are on EUNE, playing actively from a Greek IP address will be given the new Mythic Cassiopeia skin for free.

Those players who I identify as having attended the event and been unable to get inside I will also be working to contact and offer a personal apology. If you attended the venue, but did not get inside, please make clear in this thread.

Once again, in English this time, the police was called at from the OWNERS OF THE PLACE, NOT RIOT!!! People where wrecking the place out of frustration and they only wanted to protect their property!! It was the only LOGICAL thing to do against this horde of barbarians that call themselves "civilised"...

Apologies accepted!
We know that you didnt expect so many people but now you know that next time you will need a stadium...

I want to mention something. I watched the event from cowboytv streaming.
Please next time think twice about who you will give the responsibility to boadcast your events.
I have never seen worst broadcasting in my gaming life... EVER!!
There was no shoutcasting the whole event, we observed the match through the video wall (there was just a camera facing the video wall... o.O), the whole time we were hearing screams & loud voices instead of the game sound or shoutcasting...
Cowboytv managed to broadcast the worst streaming experience EVER!!
Seriously do they know how it works?

EG: Please, come again and do more events!
Thank you and sorry for my not so good english
