Read this and you will have a better chance when dealing with her next time. Who knows you may actually kill her .

So... Akali...

Yet another annoying champion that really messes things up in Dominion. Just like Eve, Poppy or Jax, Akali is quite hard to counter even in normal games, but in Dominion... it is a nightmare.

Or NOT?

Let's see "what is" Akali.

1. AKALI MEANS DAMAGE

Her damage output is quite impressive. She can actually melt a squishy and it seems that she can deal a ton of damage even to tanky champions.

Akali has a weird way to deal damage. Her main damage ability is the Mark of the Assassin. That "knife" that she trows at you and "marks" you for a small period of time. That is her main damage.
The whole idea is to trow that at you, then fallow up with a basic attack. This will make the mark "explode" and deal double damage. But that is not all! Once she hits you with a basic attack she also regenerates her "energy" making her able to deal even more damage in time.

So how this works in real games?
- she gets close
- she jumps at you with her ultimate and she marks you when you are close
- you take damage from jump and mark in the same time
- she then hits you with an auto-attack, usually using a sheen, triforce or a lichbane.
- you take damage from mark, normal attack, and sheen/tri/lich in the same time
- she uses Crescent Slash (those many knifes) to deal more damage, but mainly to keep you there if she has Rylai's
- you take damage again

So in about 1-2 seconds you take damage from:
2 x Mark of the Assasin - magic damage
1 x Shadow Dance - magic damage
1 x Sheen/Tri/Leechbane proc - normal damage
1 x Autoattack - normal damage

Then she can do it again once her cooldowns are allowing it.

How to counter such massive damage burst? Well there are couple of tips that will help you.
- keep the distance. Do not get close of Akali with low hp! Avoid her bush, her circle, and avoid her jump range. Keep in mind that she can jump to a near minion, then hit you with the mark, then jump at you, so keep more distance if necessary
- use magic resist! Yes, just like Katarina, Akali too deals a lot of damage as magic damage. So get an early magic resist item and you will survive
- keep an eye on her energy bar. That yellow bar indicates if she can or cannot do a full combo on you. If her energy bar is low, get close and poke her, if is full get away!
- as always use CC. If she is interrupted you can get away and she cannot do the whole combo. Get back at her once your hp is up, or/if her energy is low.

2. AKALI MEANS INVISIBLE

Usually people forget that she is one of the few champions that can become invisible. Just because she cannot roam invisible like Twitch or Eve, that does not mean that she is not an invisible assassin.

Her "circle" Twilight Shroud, makes her invisible. Many players think that once she is invisible she is "less of a danger". Huge mistake! While she is invisible she waits. She waits for her cooldowns and she waits for her energy to come back! And once she got them she will charge again with deadly force making another full combo on you, then vanishing again in another "circle" just to pop again in couple of seconds to deal more damage.

That is the whole idea behind Akali. Charge, deal as much damage as possible using the combo, then hide in Shroud and wait for cooldowns and energy regen. Then charge again!

The advantages of her invisibility circle:
- she CANNOT BE TARGETED. Yes people... she is IMMUNE to most damage, except aoe abilities.
- even if targeted by aoe abilities she will take LESS damage because her circle gives her bonus magic resist and armor!
- If you step into her circle, you will be slowed! Making her far more mobile than you, able to dodge attacks or escape with ease
- she needs only 0.5 seconds to vanish in the circle after an attack, so she can poke and vanish without giving you enough time to react
- she can flash away from the circle into a bush or over a wall, then attack you taking you by surprise, or escape before anyone knows

So the point is: she is INVISIBLE!

How to counter.
- as with any invisible units use a ward or an oracle! Yes people, buy an oracle for Akali! Her damage is one of the biggest in the game, so you better make sure to buy an oracle when she is on the enemy team
- while playing in Dominion you can use 2 items instead of the regular oracle. Those items do not vanish after you die and can GREATLY IMPROVE your anti-Akali build. The LIGHTBRINGER is a dps item that gives you the ability to see Akali if she hides after she was hit by a regular attack! You can see her for up to 5 seconds, enough time for you and your team to finish her off even if she is in her own circle! Same goes for the HEXTECH SWEEPER! You can use an AOE spell and make her visible right in her circle. Then focus and kill. Use these items people! They can destroy an Akali!
- use other abilities, like Lee Sin's Tempest! Dash into her circle and use Tempest, she will appear! Then kill!
- she cannot be seen but she can be targeted. Use Blitzcrank's pull and get her out of the circle, she will become visible and vulnerable.

3. AKALI MEANS HARD TO KILL
Any good Akali player use a form of lifesteal, and the most common one is the Hextech Revolver or Gunblade. With enough ability power and with smart use of the circle she can solo any enemy regenerating hp and dealing huge damage in short bursts then hiding in the circle for couple of seconds.

Counter this using:
- Ignite! Make her hp regen go down.
- avoid staying near the circle even if your hp is bigger. She can actually "bite" chunks of your hp, and use that damage to heal herself. Think that she is some kind of invisible Vladimir.
- avoid long battles with her if you got no damage or resistances. She can out-damage most champions and she can hide when needed avoiding the incoming damage. She does not need mana, and her cooldowns are quite small. She can heal from you and she gains magic resit and armor while in the circle. Do not stay there for too long if you do not know what are you doing!

Conclusion:
- Do not chase Akali with low hp even if she is lower! She can turn once her cooldowns and energy is up and kill you with one combo.
- Get some early magic resist
- Use any kind of oracle/ward/item/ability to make sure that she is visible while her cooldowns and energy is down so you can have a chance to do some damage back
- Stay away from her if your hp is low
- Stay far far away from her if your hp is low and you got friendly troops around as she can jump to them, then to you
- When you are "tagged" with the Assassin's Mark (her knife), move away and do not let her hit you again until the mark vanishes, think of this like some kind of Kennen's energy mark
- Do not fight Akali in her circle if possible draw her out, or use range abilities
- In Dominion use the 2 new items: The Lightbringer and the Hextech Sweeper. It makes her visible even in the circle! USE THEM - they ruin Akali!
- Burst her down and focus her in teamfights. Most usual she is the main enemy damage dealer, so use Ulties on her on a regular basis! Do not hold back! Focus her fast!
- Get fat! Get some hp items and get fat!
- Nuke her circle with AOE nukes. Annie's Tibbers or the Lux Lazer can ruin her if she got low hp.
- Use CC.
- Get away if she got full energy bar and you are low/medium on hp
- Attack her when her energy bar is low
- Do not solo her if you are squish. She got incredible speed and her burst is insane. Also her circle makes her escape from most dps.

Ok.. that is all.
I usually get the new items in Dominion, as it cost me less than the oracles in the long run. Also is quite funny to see an Akali in her circle visible and targeted by all. She cannot actually tell if she is visible or not... and if you use and AOE spell like Malza's Pool in her circle, and the Hextech Sweeper, she becomes vixible, and you then can ulti her quite relaxed.

The more advanced players can add as always more tips.
Any spelling errors... are errors.

Akali was not nerfed... the hextech gunblade was nerfed. She is the same deadly killer with great escape and super gap-closing jumps that can melt you in 3 seconds.

Actually I think that, just like Annie, her damage will never be nerfed too much. She must keep her "assasin" aura on her, and that means danger and damage.

QQ-ing will only do this much... you will eventually need to counter her in real games.

TL : DR version
Best way to counter akali is to either buy oracle or play Talon.
